In a close sea-saw battle, Barker downed visiting Albion 6-3 in the Niagara-Orleans Leagues softball season opener this afternoon.

Barker grabbed a quick 2-0 first inning lead on a double by winning pitcher Peyton Bradley and a single by Natalie Brandel who had a total of three hits on the day.

Albion battled back to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Mackenzie Snook and a two-run single by Cami London. Singles by Alison Gibson and Leah Pawlak set up the threat. However, the Purple Eagles could not cross home plate again.

Barker answered right back in the home half of the frame with what proved to be a game winning four run rally.

Lilly Monthony had a two-run single, Bradley an RBI double and Brandel a run producing single to key that decisive uprising for the Lady Raiders.

In the circle, Bradley registered 9 strikeouts and Albion pitcher Alana Irvine had 6.

Barker next hosts Akron and Albion entertains Medina on Friday.

In another N-O opener, Akron downed defending champion Roy-Hart 6-1.
