Barker track teams return good nucleus
Looking to keep the momentum from last year’s strong showing, the Barker track teams return a good veteran nucleus heading into the Niagara-Orleans League season.
The Barker boys squad, which went 5-1 last spring, is led by seniors Andrew Jenks, Adam Wagner, Malik Smith, Joe Baronich, Anthony Leising, Aidan O’Shea and Adam Woodworth.
Jenks finished third in the 200 at last year’s N-O All-League meet while Wagner placed fourth in the 400 and Smith fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 100.
The Barker girls squad, which went 4-2 a year ago, is led by a group of seven high All-League place finishers including sophomore Dakota Leising (1st in High Jump), senior Casey A’Hearn (2nd in Discus), senior Natalie Menz (3rd in 100 Hurdles), junior Shelby Ewald (3rd in Discus and 4th in Shotput), junior Gabby Baker (4th in 400 Hurdles), sophomore Haleigh Mason (5th in Long Jump) and sophomore Katrina Clare (5th in 200 and 400).
The Lady Raiders senior group also includes Jillian Moeller and Sarah Mason.
