Barker tops Medina to keep share of N-O lead; Akron and Roy-Hart both score wins

Maintaining a share of first place, Barker defeated Medina 5-1 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game at Vets Park.

Barker improves to 8-1 with the win to remain deadlocked for first place with defending champion Akron, a 5-0 winner over Kenmore (1-8).

Roy-Hart stayed just a game off the pace at 8-2 with a 2-0 win over Newfane (0-10).

Barker built up a 3-0 lead in the first half on two goals by Lena Fazzolari and one by Katrina Clare, all in the final 11 minutes.

The Lady Raiders upped the advantage to 5-0 in the second half on goals by Ciara Gregoire and Natalie Menz.

The Medina goal was scored by Guin Schalck on a penalty stroke.

The loss drops Medina to 4-6.

Rebecca Breymeier and Abby Stone each scored two goals and Alexis Bell one to lead Akron past Kenmore.

Lexi Lovewell had a goal and an assist and Delaney Draper a goal for Roy-Hart as Jamie Bower earned the shutout.
