Barker tops Medina in N-O field hockey

A quick two goal scoring spurt early in the second half keyed Barker to a 5-1 victory over visiting Medina this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game.

Leading by a narrow 1-0 margin, Barker pulled away on goals by Natalie Menz and Katrina Clare in the first nine minutes of the second half.

Goals by Rachel Hurtgam and Haleigh Mason then rounded out the Lady Raiders scoring.

A goal by Lena Fazzolari gave Barker the 1-0 lead in the first half.

Alexis Maines scored the Medina goal off an assist from Libby Cook.

Barker is now 2-1 and Medina 2-2 in N-O action.

In the other N-O games, front-running Roy-Hart (4-0) blanked Newfane (0-4) 7-0 and Akron (3-0) downed Kenmore (0-3) 6-0.

Ashley Hill, Kate Corra and Lexi Lovewell each scored 2 goals and Jayden Townsend 1 for Roy-Hart.

Alexis Bell scored a pair of goals to lead Akron.
