Barker to host Medina in N-O track opener

Niagara-Orleans League track and field competition will get underway on Thursday as Barker hosts Medina at 4:30 p.m.

Barker will be looking to keep the momentum from last year which saw both Raiders teams post 4-2 N-O records while Medina will be looking to rebound from a campaign which saw the boys go 1-5 and the girls 0-6.

Junior Ian DiLorenzo, who won the 400 Hurdles at last year’s N-O All-League meet, and senior Dominic Clementi, who placed second in both the 200 and 400, head the Barker boys squad whose other senior members include Noah Bowerman, Andrew Callaghan, Noah Costich, Michael Dalton, Patrick Dwyer, Dale Jones, Damon Moore and Matthew Stevener.

Shelby Ewald, who placed second in the Shotput at the All-League meet, Jessica Haseley, Alexis Greene and Elizabeth Langendorfe are the only senior members of the Lady Raiders squad which also returns key veterans in juniors Katrina Clare (200, 400), Bailey Sutch (High Jump), Haleigh Mason (Long Jump), Dakota Leising (High Jump) and sophomore Madison Gancasz (Pole Vault).

The Medina boys squad is led by senior Caelin Holland (800, 1600) along with juniors Lincoln Pace (Jumps, Hurdles), Hunter Heil (Jumps) and Trenton Crews (Hurdles, Jumps). Crews placed second in the 110 Hurdles at the All-League meet.

Veteran members of the Medina girls squad include senior Sarah Cochrane, juniors Olivia Carter and Miranda Zelazny and sophomore Devin Griffin. Carter place second in the Long Jump at the All-League meet.

May: 2 – Wilson, 7 – at Newfane, 9 – Albion, 15 and 16 at All-League meet

April: 4 – at Barker, 11 – Roy-Hart, 15 – Wilson, 30 – at Albion
May: 7 – at Akron, 9 – Newfane, 15 and 16 at All-League meet
