Barker swimmers prepping for N-O season

The boys team is looking to rebound from a sub .500 (4-6) season and the girls squad to keep the momentum from a winning (6-4) campaign as the Barker swimmers prepare for the upcoming Niagara-Orleans League competition.

Junior Collin Webb, who won both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events and senior Collin Stevener, who captured the 100 Butterfly, at last year’s All-League meet head the boys’ veteran contingent. That group also includes junior Andrew Jenks, who placed second in the 50 free and third in the 200 Individual Medley, and sophomore Dominic Clementi.

Two juniors, Natalie Menz who placed second in the 50 Free and third in the 100 Free, and Sara Gendrue, who took second in the 100 Breaststroke and third in the Individual Medley, lead the girls returning group which also includes seniors Abigail Bachman and Anie Carestia.

Coach Mike Gendrue’s Raiders will tune-up for the league competition by facing four Genesee Region League foes before beginning N-O competition at Albion on December 13.
