Barker sweeps Roy-Hart to clinch tie for N-O track titles
Barker clinched at least a tie for both the Niagara-Orleans League boys and girls track titles by sweeping host Roy-Hart this afternoon.
Barker defeated Roy-Hart 90-51 in the boys meet and 90-49 in the girls competition as both Raiders teams stay perfect at 5-0.
Dominick Snider doubled in the 100 (:11.2) and 200 (:24.3), Christopher Sweeney in the 400 (:54.9) and high jump (5-8) and Casey Webb in the 800 (2:11.5) and long jump (1-3/4) to lead the way for the four-time defending N-O champion Barker boys squad.
The Raiders also got wins by Sergio Cruz in the 3200 (10:42), Jacob Arnold in the triple jump (35-9) and Brett Holland in the discus (118-1).
Arnold and Sweeney also teamed up with Daniel Gardner and Carter Pisarski to win the 3200 relay (9:00.3) while Snider combined with Malik Smith, Lovon Daigler and Brandon Carmer to win the 400 relay (:47.9).
Roy-Hart got individual event wins by John Stoddard in the 100 hurdles (:16.4), Avery Green in the 1600 (4:45.4), Ryan Ulrich in the 400 hurdles (1:07.5), Austin Dodge in the pole vault (10-0) and Jordan Deuel in the shot-put (36-2).
Dodge also teamed up with Zach Jenkins, Tanner Bulmer and Eugene Bush to win the 1600 relay (3:55.3).
Gabriella Clare tripled in the 100 hurdles (:17.1), 400 hurdles (1:10.5) and high jump (4-8) and Caitlyn Mason in the long jump (16-1), 400 (1:06.6) and triple jump (32-9 1/2) and Allison Austin doubled in the shot-put (31-8 1.2) and discus (80-3) to set the pace for the Barker girls.
The Lady Raiders also had Kelsi Flegal win the 100 (:12.9), Gabrielle Baker the 1500 (5:35.9), Lydia Dewart the 800 (2:38.5) and Erin Greenwald the pole vault (7-6).
Dewart and Baker also teamed up with Emma Jenks and Katie Przybyl to win the 3200 relay (11:18.2) while Dewart, Mason, Flegal and Greenwald combined to take the 400 relay (:53.6).
Ellie Todd won the 200 (:29.9) and Ayleen Brewer the 3000 (13:05.1) for Roy-Hart.
The Lady Rams also got a win in the 1600 relay (4:51.1) by the quartet of Kayleigh Kuzma, Ava Bligh, Deanna Catalano and Emily Faltyn.
The Roy-Hart boys squad finishes the N-O regular season at 2-4 and the girls at 0-6.
