Barker sweeps Albion and Medina in X-C

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Barker’s Mikala Woock and Luke Fay scored wins at this afternoon’s cross-country tri meet hosted by Medina.

Barker swept to a doubleheader victory over Albion and host Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League cross-country tri- meet this afternoon.

In the boys competition, Barker defeated Albion 16-47 and Medina 16-45. In the other portion of the meet Medina downed Albion 21-37.

Barker runners took the top four finishing spots. Luke Fay led that group which also included Albert Cimato, Peyton Wagner and Owen Harris. Medina’s Ryder Jones finished fifth.

Barker is now 4-0, Medina 1-3 and Albion 0-6.

In the girls race, Barker defeated Albion 25-30 and Medina 23-35. Albion also edged Medina by the tiebreaker sixth runner’s finish. The teams had tied 28-28 after the first five runners had finished.

Barker was led by the 1-2 finish of Mikala Woock and Emma Evans.

Medina’s Ariel Smith and Maddy Mark finished third and fourth and Albion’s Cordelia Rivers fifth.

Barker is now 3-1, Albion 2-4 and Medina 1-3.

In the other N-O meets, Newfane swept Roy-Hart winning the boys’ competition 20-38 and the girls’ 15-47. The individual winners were Liam Betteridge and Kylie Bowman, both from Newfane. Akron likewise swept Wilson winning the boys’ meet 25-32 and the girls’ 24-32. Wilson had the two individual winners in Jaydan Ruble and Haydan Barlow.

At the start of the boys race the runners go along Glenwood Lake.

Barker’s Emma Evans leads this group of runners which also includes Medina’s Ariel Smith and Barker’s Mikayla Woock.
