Barker rebounds to blank Medina in field hockey

BARKER – Getting goal production from six different players, defending champion Barker got back onto the winning track by shutting out Medina 7-0 this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League field hockey action.

Bouncing back from a 1-0 loss at Kenmore on Tuesday, Barker roared out to a 4-0 half-time advantage on goals by Brooke Bodine, Melissa Grosshans, Olivia Denny and Lydia Dewart.

Erin Greenwald, Gabby Clare and Bodine added second half goals for the Lady Raiders.

Morgan Brown added two assists for Barker which improves to 10-1.

Medina slips to 2-9.

In other N-O action, Akron (8-3) blanked Newfane (4-8) 5-0 as Claudia Stone led the way with two goals and an assist. Sarah Schultz, Ashton Witzleben and Emily Buckley each added a goal. Kenmore kept pace with Barker at 10-1 by blanking visiting Wilson (4-7) 4-0.

In a non league contest, Roy-Hart shut out host Buffalo Seminary 2-0 on goals by Casidhe Heschke and Samantha Gordon. Haley Moore earned the shutout.

WILSON – Emily Lasher has 6 spiking kills and 14 assists and Ali Bubar 13 kills to lead Wilson (9-3) past Medina (4-8) 25-4, 25-8, 25-11, this evening to close out the N-O volleyball season.
