Barker, R-H to meet in field hockey semi

No. 1 seed defending champion Barker will face No. 4 Roy-Hart in the semifinals of the Section VI Class C field hockey playoffs at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Clarence.

Barker defeated Roy-Hart twice during the Niagara-Orleans League season by the identical score of 2-0.

Barker advanced by blanking Newfane 6-0 in the quarterfinals while Roy-Hart shutout Wilson 2-0.

Ciara Gregoire has scored 15 goals and Katrina Clare 14 to lead the Barker attack as Rachel Hurtgam and Ginger Alexander have both tallied 9 and Emily Wagner 6. Clare has dished out a team leading 16 assists.

Samanatha Choate and Lexiss Diel have both scored 5 goals to lead Roy-Hart as Jenna Gioeli, Cheyenne Stilwell and Madison Brown each have 4. Choate leads the Lady Rams in assists with 9.

The other semi will be a matchup of Erie County League foes as No. 6 Eden takes on No. 7 Holland at 7 p.m. at Clarence.

Eden nipped No. 3 Akron 1-0 and Holland downed No. 2 Medina 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

The semi winners will meet in the Class C championship at 4 p.m. November 5 at Alden.
