Barker nips Wilson on three at the buzzer; Albion posts win over Akron
A dramatic three point shot at the buzzer capped off a big fourth quarter rally as Barker nipped visiting Wilson 56-54 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League game.
Jake Arnold hit the clutch three at the buzzer to earn the thrilling victory for the Raiders which trailed by 9 with three minutes to go.
Trailing 31-25 at the half, Barker cut the deficit to 4, 42-38, at the three-quarter mark and then used an 18-12 scoring edge down the stretch to rally for the win.
Arnold also had a pair of key layups off steals and Nate Luckman two big threes to help highlight the late surge while Austin Sullivan hit a pair of big threes in the third period.
Luckman finished with 21, Arnold 16 and Eddie Wasnock 14.
Barker is now 2-0 and Wilson 2-1 in N-O competition.
Albion 53, Akron 36
A 28-15 scoring edge over the middle two quarters keyed Albion to a 53-36 win over visiting Akron.
Breaking away from a 9-9 deadlock, Albion outscored Akron 14-9 in the second period to grab a 23-18 lead at the half as Chase Hall and JaQuess Harrison both tallied 6.
The Purple Eagles then used a 14-6 third period scoring edge to extend the lead to 37-24 at the three-quarter mark. Hall and Kory Reynolds both netted 5 and Harrison 4 during that stretch.
Hall finished with a game high 18 points as Harrison added 12 and Reynolds 9. Reynolds also grabbed off 9 rebounds while Meach Gardner had 7 and Harrison 5 steals.
Mason Schutlz led Akron with 10 points.
Albion is now 1-2 and Akron 0-3 in N-O action.

Newfane 64, Niagara Catholic 13
Romping out to a 31-6 halftime advantage, Newfane went on to defeat Niagara Catholic 64-13 in a non league game as Paige Emborsky soared 15, Makenzie Perry 13 and Emily Foltz 10.
