Maintaining a share of first place, Barker nipped Medina 2-1 in a key Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game at Vets Park this afternoon.

The victory boosts Barker’s N-O record to 6-1 and keeps the Lady Raiders tied for first place with Roy-Hart which downed Kenmore (1-6) 7-0.  The loss drops Medina into third place at 4-3.

Barker grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half as Lena Fazzolari scored just five minutes in off an assist from Madison Gancasz.

Medina rallied to tie the contest six minutes into the second half on a goal by Guin Schalck.

However, Barker answered right back with what proved to be the game wining goal by Emily Wagner seven minutes later off an assist from Fazzolari,

Lexie Lovewell scored 3 goals and Kenzie Rothwell 2 to lead the way for Roy-Hart as Miah Glena and Ellory Brown each netted one.

Jamie Bower made 5 saves to earn the shutout in goal for the Lady Rams.

Roy-Hart next hosts Medina at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.
