Barker locks up N-O field hockey championship; Medina wins non league game

Undefeated (10-0) Barker put a lock on outright possession of the Niagara-Orleans League field hockey championship with a 9-0 victory over host Kenmore (1-10) this evening.

Barker grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Ciara Gregoire and Ginger Alexander off an assist from Katrina Clare.

The Lady Raiders then exploded for seven goals in the second half as Gregoire scored from Rachel Hurtgam, Ella Fox from Clare, Emily Wagner from Fox, Alexander from Natalie Bruning, Hurtgam from Serena Harris, Clare from Madison Gancasz and Bruning from Harris.

In another N-O contest, Akron (7-3-1) and Roy-Hart (6-3-1) played to a scoreless tie in overtime.

Medina 5, Sacred Heart 2
Getting goal production from five players, Medina downed host Sacred Heart 5-2 in a non league field hockey game this afternoon.

Mary Flores, FaithAnn Vanderwalker, Abby Blount, Lacey Kenward and Grace Cook took turns scoring the goals for the Mustangs which made it two non league wins in as many days.

Volleyball

Attica defeated Albion 28-26, 25-13, 25-15 in a non league volleyball match.

In a Genesee Region League match, undefeated (9-0, 11-0) Byron-Bergen rallied past Alexander 22-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-17 as Madison Farnsworth had 12 service aces and 12 spiking kills.
