Barker harriers sweep Albion, Medina

Defending champion Barker defeated host Albion 15-50 and Medina 17-46 this afternoon to stay perfect at 4-0 in Niagara-Orleans League boys cross-country competition.

Albion (2-2) downed Medina (1-2) 24-33 in the other portion of the meet.

Barker’s trio of Sergio Cruz, Bryce Moeller and Case Webb finished 1-2-3 to lead the Raiders as Medina’s Dalton Cerbone finished fourth.

The Barker girls squad improved to 3-1 by downing Albion 25-34 and Medina 15-50. Albion (1-3) also bested Medina (0-3) 15-50.

Medina’s Holly Heil won the race with Barker’s Katie Przybyl second and the Albion duo of Meredith Patterson and Hannah Wheling third and fourth.

Newfane also swept rival Wilson winning the boys’ meet 20-41 and the girls’ 18-15. The Panthers got first place finishes from Ethan Morgan and Kelly Bochnewetch.

The Newfane boys are now 2-1 and the girls 3-0 while the Wilson boys are 0-3 and the girls 1-2.

The Akron boys maintained a share of first place at 4-0 by defeating Roy-Hart 21-36 and CSAT 16-45. Roy-Hart (1-3) downed CSAT (0-3) 17-45. Akron’s Derick Edgar won the race.

The Akron girls squad likewise improved to 4-0 by downing Roy-Hart 15-47 and CSAT 15-50. Roy-Hart (1-3) also topped CSAT (1-2) 17-39. Akron’s Eliza Papke placed first.

Field Hockey

Barker 3, Newfane 0
Defending champion Barker stayed unbeaten at 7-0 by blanking Newfane (3-4) 3-0 as Kelsey Blackley scored two goals and Melissa Grosshans one. Caitlyn Mason earned the shut out.

Kenmore stayed just a game off the pace at 6-1 by blanking host Medina (0-6) 7-0.

Wilson improved to 3-4 by downing Roy-Hart (0-6) 4-2 as Michelle Myers scored two goals. Casidhe Heschke and Maddy Dent scored the goals for Roy-hart.
