Barker harriers retain sectional title
By a slender two point margin Barker retained the Section VI Class D boys cross-country title Friday at Sunshine Park in West Seneca to earn a return trip to the state meet.
Barker edged out Maple Grove 41 points to 43 to repeat as Section VI champions.
Sergio Cruz finished third and Casey Webb 7th to lead the way for the Raiders which clinched the title with a strong pack finish by the quintet of Doug Bachman (10th), Dustin Walters (11th), Jack Hopkins (13th), Tanner Gregiore (14th) and Christopher Sweeney (23rd).
In the girls Class C1 race Newfane’s Kim Goerss finished 5th, Albion’s Madyson Coville 9th and Meredith Patterson 15th and Medina’s Holly Heil 19th.
Akron won the Class C2 race as Margo Henley placed 2nd, Emily Ludwig 3rd and Kylee Schultz 5th. Roy-Hart’s Chelsea Patterson placed 11th.
