Barker girls gain split at tourney

Barker defeated Holley 29-8 this afternoon in the game for third place to earn a split at the Alexander Softball Tournament.

Kylie Miller had 3 hits including a double and triple with 7 RBIs, Ann Buffington a triple and a grand slam home run with 6 RBIs and Mary Rounds 3 hits including a double and home run to lead the Barker attack. Melissa Grosshans also had three hits as winning pitcher Erika Moeller, Courtney Bodine and Haylee Muzzillo each added one.

Maddy Papaj had 2 hits, including a home run, Riley O’Mara a double and Kassie Norman a single for Holley.

In the opening round, Alden defeated Barker 17-2 and Alexander bested Holley 18-7.

Moeller had 2 hits for Barker as Buffington added a triple and Destinee Hillman and Bodine both had singles.

Papaj had 3 hits and Julianna Drewry 2 for Holley which led 6-2 in the fourth inning.
