Barker girls edge past Akron

A basket in the final seconds earned Barker a narrow 46-44 victory over host Akron this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

Trailing 34-31 after three-quarters, Barker rallied for the win by outscoring Akron 15-10 in the decisive final period a rally capped off by a layup off a steal by Sarah Outten in the final seconds.

Outten and Sydnie Luckman each scored 7 for the Lady Raiders in the final stanza.

Luckman finished with a game high 18, Outten 12 and Courtney Hillman 10.

Jayni Sundown scored 11 for Akron as Jessee Jonathan and Giahna LaFromboise each added 9.

Barker improves to 4-5 and Akron slips to 5-4.

Newfane 40, Medina 16

Jumping out to a 19-6 half-time advantage, Newfane went on to defeat visiting Medina 40-16 as Jensen McGhee led the Lady Panthers with 12.

Anya Bloom scored 6, Iyla Lilleby and Paige Adkins 4 and Faithann Vanderwalker 2 for Medina.
