Barker is No. 1 seed for field hockey sectionals
Defending champion Barker has earned the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Section VI Class C field hockey playoffs after compiling a 12-0 record in capturing the Niagara-Orleans League title.
Barker will host No. 8 Newfane (1-11) at 4 p.m. on Thursday in the quarterfinals. The Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Panthers by scores of 10-0 and 5-0 during the N-O season.
The victor will face the winner of Thursday’s No. 5 Wilson (4-6-2) at No. 4 Roy-Hart (6-4-2) game (3:30 pm.) in the semifinals on October 30. During the N-O season, Roy-Hart downed Wilson 2-0 and the teams played to a 1-1 tie in their second meeting.
Thursday’s other quarterfinal match ups will have No. 2 Medina (8-3-1) hosting No. 7 Holland (2-12-1) at 6:30 p.m.and No. 3 Akron (7-4-1) entertaining No. 6 Eden (5-10) at 4 p.m.. The winners of those two games will meet in the semis on October 30.
Volleyball
Bishop Kearney defeated Medina 25-15, 25-7, 25-7 this afternoon in a non league volleyball match.
Devin Griffin and Ellie Gross both had 2 spiking kills and Jelia Howard 2 service aces for Medina.
