Barker cagers upend No. 3 Holland

No. 6 seed Barker bested host No. 3 Holland 58-51 this evening in the quarterfinals of the Section VI Class C2 boys basketball tournament.

Nate Luckman poured in a game high 33 points, including 17 of 18 from the free throw line, to spearhead the Barker attack as Kyle Moeller added 9, Austin Sullivan 6, Shawn Callaghan 4 and Jacob Arnold and Malik Smth 3 each.

Trailing 16-14 after one period, Barker used a 17-10 second period scoring edge to rally into a 31-26 lead at the half. Luckman scored 10 in the period after tallying 9 in the opening quarter.

Up by a narrow 43-42 margin at the three-quarter mark, the Raiders used a 15-9 fourth period scoring edge to lock up the win. Luckman scored 9, including 6 of 6 from the foul line, and Moeller had 4 to lead that decisive surge.

Barker will next face No. 2 Buffalo East, a 81-57 winner over No. 7 Global Concepts, in the C2 semifinals at Jamestown Community College on Tuesday.

In Class B1, No. 3 Newfane defeated No. 6 Depew 78-53.

In Class B2, No. 6 Wilson lost 69-45 to No. 3 Lackawanna.
