Barker cagers sweep Lyndonville

BARKER – Both teams stayed undefeated as Barker swept a pair of wins from Lyndonville in a girl/boy non league doubleheader this afternoon.

The Barker boys squad stayed perfect at 6-0 with a 62-26 victory over Lyndonville and the Lady Tigers improved to 4-0 with a 40-17 win over the Lady Tigers.

Boys Game

Barker 62, Lyndonville 26
Roaring out to a commanding 22 point first quarter lead, Barker coasted to a 62-26 victory over Lyndonville.

Mitchell Luckman scored 13 and Thomas Callaghan 10 to lead the balanced attack for Barker as Christopher Sweeney added 9, Tristan Payne 8, Bryce Moeller 7 and Jacob Haight 5.

Ty Hrovat took game high honors for Lyndonville with 14 as Nick Hinkson tallied 6, Jonathan Marciszewski 3, Justin Edwards 2 and Evan Milleville 1.

Getting two threes from Sweeney, along with five points from both Luckman and Moeller and four from Callaghan, Barker jumped out to a 25-3 first quarter lead.

The Raiders went on to hold leads of 37-9 at the half and 52-15 after three quarters.

Girls Game

Barker 40, Lyndonville 17
Julia Atwater poured in a game high 19 points to lead Barker past Lyndonville 40-17.

Melissa Grosshans added 6 for the Lady Raiders as Caitlyn Mason, Morgan Brown and Gabby Clare each had 4, Olivia Denny 2 and Maicie Baker 1.

Morgan Hungerford scored 7, Abigail Feldman 6, and Jenna Castricone and Gabby Dusett 2 each for Lyndonville which slips to 2-5.

Atwater scored eight quick points in the opening quarter to put Barker on top to stay at 10-6.

Two more buckets by Atwater, along with one each by Mason, Grosshans and Denny helped up the Barker lead to 20-11 at the half.

The Lady Raiders advantage jumped to 17, 32-15 at the three-quarter mark as Atwater netted six in the third period.
