Barker boys dominate N-O All-League swim meet with victories in six events

Contributed Photo – Earning first place honors at the annual Niagara-Orleans League Boys Individual Swim championships were Andrew Jenks, Collin Webb, Adam Wagner and Dominic Clementi from Barker, Daniel Heil from Medina, Thomas Schultz from Newfane, and Carlitos Sanchez, Harrison Brown, Sam Sanchez and Matt Kovaleski  from Albion.

Barker captured top honors in six of 11 events at the annual Niagara-Orleans League Boys Individual Swimming Championships held this evening at Akron.

Collin Webb was a repeat double winner for Barker in the 50 Freestyle (:22.54) and 100 Free (:49.53). He captured the 50 Free for a league record fourth year in a row.

Andrew Jenks likewise was a double winner for the Raiders repeating as the 100 Butterfly (:58.27) champion and also winning the 200 Individual Medley (2:17.32).

Webb and Jenks also teamed up with Dominic Clementi and Adam Wagner to win both the 200 Medley Relay (1:44.35) and the 200 Free Relay (1:32.28).

Albion’s quartet of Carlitos Sanchez, Harrison Brown, Matt Kovaleski and Sam Sanchez captured the 400 Free Relay (3:34.40).

Kovaleski also took first place honors in the 100 Breaststroke (1:06.72).

Medina’s Daniel Heil captured the 100 Backstroke (1:01.67) to become a three sport N-O All-League honoree (cross-country and track).

Newfane also had an individual event double winner as Thomas Schultz repeated as the 500 Free (5:20.54) champion and also captured the 200 Free (1:56.55).

Second place finishers in the individual events included Akron’s Andrew Buyea in the 200 Free and 500 Free, Akron’s Jacob Cobti in the IM, Carlitos Sanchez in the 50 Free, Sam Sanchez in the Butterfly, Roy-Hart’s William Rickard in the 100 Free, Albion’s Thomas Furmanski in the Backstroke and Medina’s Ray Paull in the Breaststroke.

Third place honors went to Wagner in the 200 Free, Dan Heil in the IM, Rickard in the 50 Free, Medina’s Hunter Heil in the Butterfly, Akron’s Symon Jonathan in the 100 Free, Roy-Hart’s Madigan Lang in the 500 Free, Newfane’s Zach Lundy in the Backstroke and Clementi in the Breaststroke.

The girls All-League meet will be held at Newfane at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
