Barker advances in Class C softball

No. 8 seed Barker bested host No. 9 Randolph 4-1 this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Section VI Class C softball playoffs.

Erika Moeller hurled a 2 hitter with 14 strikeouts for Barker which next faces top seeded Olmsted in the semifinals on May 26.

At the plate, Mary Rounds had 3 hits and Moeller and Kylie Miller 2 each for the Lady Raiders.

Trailing 1-0, Barker rallied into the lead for good by scoring twice in the fifth inning on a double by Miller and single by Sabrina Harris.

The Lady Raiders later added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh on singles by Destinee Hillman and Miller.

In other quarterfinal contests involving N-O teams, No. 6 Wilson lost 9-0 at No. 3 Fredonia in Class B2 and No. 7 Newfane lost 14-5 at No. 2 Alden in Class B1.
