Barker ‘9’ bests Lockport 2 in Midget ‘A’

A big fifth inning scoring burst keyed Barker to a 5-3 victory over visiting Lockport 2 Thursday in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League baseball game.

Leading by a narrow 1-0 margin, Barker erupted for four runs in the decisive fifth inning on hits by Devon Mangan, Brad Wilson, Chauncy McKee and Eddie Wasnock and a pair of walks.

Mangan and Wilson both had 2 hits on the evening.

Wilson also picked up the win on the mound scattering 5 hits and striking out 6 with no walks over seven innings.

Lockport 2 avoided the shutout by scoring 3 times in the seventh.

Improving to 2-0, Barker next hosts Orchard Park at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
