Banes trims Jr. Wilson to go to 9-0

Moving on top to stay with a big third inning scoring burst, Banes Machine Shop/Banes Plumbing went on to edge past Jr. Wilson 16-13 Monday to stay undefeated at 9-0 in the Medina Women’s Softball ‘A’ League.Trailing 2-1, Banes erupted for six runs in the third inning to take the lead for good on singles by Jen Masse, Robin Blaun, Sarah Surdel, Amy Allis, Jen Molisani and Donna Bane along with doubles by Alisha Foss, Kathy Allen and Jamie Chatt.

Banes then traded good scoring bursts with Jr. Wilson in both the fourth and fifth frames to maintain the lead.

Jr. Wilson outscored Banes 4-3 in the fourth and the teams traded 4 run rallies in the fifth keeping Banes up 14-11. Surdel had a double in the fourth while Allis and Sue Seefeldt both had triples in the fifth.

Banes tacked on a pair of big insurance runs in the sixth on singles by Chatt, Jessica Carpenter, Foss and Connie Heschke.

Heschke and Allen both finished with 4 hits as Allis and Foss both had 3.

Alexis Williams, Nicole Guild and Sami Johnson each had 3 hits for Jr. Wilson. Williams’ hits included a triple.
