Banes tops Shorty’z in ‘A’ Div. softball
Scoring three quick runs in the first inning, Banes Machine Shop/Banes Plumbing went on to defeat Shorty’z 9-6 Monday to improve to 4- 1 in the ‘A’ Division of the Medina Women’s Softball League.
A two-run double by Jamie Chatt an a sacrifice fly by Kathy Allen provided the scoring punch in the first inning which also included a double by Sue Seefeldt and a single by Robin Blaun.
Banes later put a lock on the win by scoring four times in the fifth inning on a two-run single by Blaun and a two-run homer by Chatt. Singles by Jen Masse and Allen set up the threat.
Connie Heschke and Jessica Carpenter both went 3 for 3 on the evening for Banes while Chatt, Blaun and Allen each had two hits.
Shorty’z scored three times in both the fifth and seventh innings.
