Banes sweeps Jr. Wilson; White Birch and Poler’s Pub split in Women’s League softball

Banes swept to a doubleheader victory over Jr. Wilson by scores of 14-13 and 19-11 and White Birch split with Poler’s Pub in Medina Women’s Softball League ‘A’ League action Monday evening. White Birch won the first game 9-8 in 8 innings and Poler’s Pub the second 10-7.

Banes 14, Jr. Wilson 13
Trailing 9-7, Banes rallied into the lead for good by scoring 7 runs in the fourth inning on singles by Morgan Allis, Kathy Allen, Robin Blaun, Rylee VanNostrand, Jen Masse, Rileigh McCabe, Connie Heschke and a double by Sue Seefeldt.

Earlier, Banes scored 4 in the second inning on singles by Blaun, Masse, Heschke and doubles by VanNostrand and McCabe and 3 in the third on singles by Allis, Allen, VanNostrand, Masse, Jami Chatt and Heschke.

Rylee VanNostrand and Masse both went 4-4 and Robin Blaun 3-4.

For Jr. Wilson, which scored 4 in the first inning and 5 more in the second, Ashlee Salisbury and Sara Flansburg each finished with three hits and two runs scored, including a double from Flansburg. Jessica Rosenbeck and Kaitlyn Miller had two hits apiece.

Banes 19, Jr. Wilson 11
A big 6 run second inning sparked Banes to the game two win. A home run by Blaun started the inning which got singles from McCabe, Jami Chatt, Heschke, Seefeldt, Lindsay Chatt and Allis along with a double by VanNostrand and a triple by Masse.

Banes locked up the win with 5 runs scoring bursts in both the fifth and sixth innings. Masse, McCabe, Heschke, Seefeldt, Lindsay Chatt, and Allis all had singles and Allen a triple in the fifth. Seefeldt and Jami Chatt then had doubles in the sixth as Masse, McCabe and Allen all added singles.

Masse finished 4-4 with a double and triple as McCabe and Jami Chatt were both 3-4 with a single and 2 doubles.

Jr. Wilson’s bats didn’t come alive until later in the game, scoring four runs in the 5th on singles from Salisbury and Jodi Zacher, and a triple from Flansburg. Jaclyn Rodriquez had a triple and a double, and Rosenbeck also chipped in with a double.

Rodriquez finished the game with three hits, while Zacher, Rosenbeck and Bri Guzdek each finished with two hits.

White Birch 9, Poler’s Pub 8 (8)
White Birch pushed across the winning run in the top of the eighth as Aubrey Lewis tripled and came home on a single by Ella Lewis.

White Birch also had a big 5 run third inning which included a triples by Alecia Hinkson and Jenahlee Riemer and singles by Aubrey Lewis and Kenzie Muck and a sacrifice fly by Maddy Boyle.

Poler’s rallied into a 5-5 tie in the home half of the third on hits by Melissa Prince, Bridget Tower and Cathy Schmitt and sacrifice flys by Alishia Foss and Neva Sailes.

White Birch went back up 8-6 by scoring twice in the fourth on hits by Audrey Lewis, Ella Lewis, Hunkson and Muck and once in the fifth on singles by Mallory Albone and Anna Lewis.

However, Poler’s again pulled even at 8-8 in the sixth as Halle Deuil and Kelsey Mest had hits. but could not gain the lead.

Aubrey Lewis finished with 3 hits as Ella Lewis, Hinkson, Muck and Riemer each had 2.

Poler’s Pub 10, White Birch 7

Poler’s Pub built up a 7-3 lead sparked by a big 5 run second inning which included hits by Lindsay Ward, Prince, Tower, Foss, Deuil and a sacrifice fly by Schmitt.

White Birch though rallied in the fourth to tie the game at 7-7 as Riemer, Maddy Gardepe, Dana Siffringer and Morgan Ralph had hits.

Poler’s regained the lead for good by scoring twice in the sixth on on a sacrifice fly by Schmitt and an RBI single by Foss. Hits by Amy Jessmer and Prince ignited the rally.

Poler’s added an insurance run in the seventh on doubles by Saile and Ward.

Hinkson had a total of 3 hits, including a triple, for White Birch as Ella Lewis, Riemer, Gardepe, Siffringer and Ralph each had 2.
