Banes rallies late to nip Orleans Vets

Banes Machine Shop/Banes Plumbing rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge past Orleans Vets 12-11 Monday to stay perfect at 10-0 in Medina Women’s Softball ‘A’ League competition.

Banes last ditch rally included singles by Amy Allis, Jessica Carpenter, Jen Molisani and a sacrifice by Connie Heschke which plated the winning run.

Orleans Vets had built up an 11-9 lead by scoring 3 runs in the fifth frame, 1 in the sixth and 2 in the top of the seventh.

Earlier, Banes grabbed a 9-5 lead after scoring 3 runs in the second on singles by Allis, Carpenter, Alisha Foss and Heschke; 4 in the third on hits by Jamie Chatt, Kathy Allen, Allis, Carpenter and Molisani and twice in the fourth on singles by Sue Seefeldt and Allis and a double by Jen Masse.

Allis and Carpenter both finished with 3 hits and Molisani 2.
