Banes, Jr Wilson score twin bill sweeps

Banes and Jr Wilson both swept to doubleheader victories Monday evening to close out the Medina Women’s Softball League ‘A’ Division regular season.

Banes downed White Birch 6-5 and 8-1 and Jr Wilson defeated Poler’s Pub 16-3 and 11-7.

Banes 6 White Birch 5
Trailing 5-3, Banes rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on singles by Jami Chatt, Morgan Allis and doubles by Kathy Allen and Amy Laventer to earn the narrow win.

Banes had scored a quick run in the first inning on singles by Connie Heschke, Jami Chatt and a Sac fly by Morgan Allis and two in the third on singles by Sue Seefeldt, Jami Chatt, Kathy Allen and a triple by Lindsay Chatt but White Birch grabbed the lead briefly by scoring 5 times in the top of the fifth.

Rileigh McCabe and Jami Chatt both finished with 3 hits for Banes as Sue Seefeldt, Jen Masse and Patti Page each had 2. Kathy Allen also had 2 hits with a double.

For White Birch, Aubrey Lewis and Ella Lewis both had 3 singles, Alecia Hinkson, Kenzie Muck and Dana Siffringer 2 and Maddy Boyle, Morgan Ralph and Mallory Albone 1 each.

Banes quickly moved on top to stay by scoring 4 runs in the first inning on singles by Heschke, Lindsay Chatt, Jami Chatt, Lavender, Masse, McCabe and a double by Allis.

The lead jumped to 6-0 in the second inning on singles by Heschke, Lindsay Chatt and Jami Chatt.

Heschke, Jami Chatt, McCabe and Lindsay Chatt each finished with 3 hits.

Aubrey Lewis had 2 singles and Madison Gardepe and Siffringer 1 each for White Birch.

Defensive players for both games were the left center fielders- Morgan Allis for Banes and Maddy Boyle for White Birch.

Banes finishes the regular season at 8-2.

Jr. Wilson 16, Poler’s Pub 3
Poler’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on singles by Melissa Prince, Bridget Tower, Cathy Schmitt and a two run double by Halle Deuil.

However, Jr. Wilson’s came back and scored 5 in the second inning on singles from Ashlee Salisbury, Jacklyn Rodriguez, Butchie Stockwell and a home run from Sara Flansburg.

Poler’s kept the game close at 5-3 on a third inning RBI single by Price but Jr. Wilson broke the game open in the sixth inning by scoring 11 runs to win by mercy rule. Doubles from Flansburg, Salisbury, Rodriguez, and Jodi Zacher highlighted the inning, along with hits from Jessica Rosenbeck, Michele Crandall, Butchie Stockwell and Chasity Chinn.

Flansburg and Rodriguez finished the game with three hits, while Zacher, Salisbury, Rosenbeck, Stockwell and Chinn all finished with two.

Jr. Wilson 11, Poler’s Pub 7
Poler’s again started with an early 3-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Schmitt and RBI singles by Alishia Foss ans Deuil.

Jr. Wilson’s then scored one run in the second and 4 in the third to take a narrow 5-3 lead. Four walks and singles from Flansburg and Salisbury helped the cause.

Jr. Wilson’s scored five more runs in the fourth to stay on top for good. Singles from Sharon Korzelius and Chasity Chinn started the inning, and Zacher hit them in with a stand up double. Flansburg then roped a triple down the left field line to score Zacher. A single from Salisbury scored Flansburg and Rodriguez scored after singles from Bri Guzdek and Crandall.

Poler’s added one run in the fourth on a single by Jen Merle and three more in the sixth on a double by Foss and singles by Deuil, Randi Scholes, Jayden Townsend, Nicci Nicholson but could get no closer than 11-7.
