Beginning a busy NBA like stretch of three games in four days, Medina used balanced scoring attack to roll past visiting Elba 62-34 this evening in a non league contest.

Nate Sherman scored 13, Tyler Chinn 11, Vincent Montague 10, Brian Fry, Izaiah Rhim and Joe Cecchini 8 each and Jarin Rhim 4 for Medina which improves to 5-1 overall.

Jon Boyce took game high honors for Elba with 17, Collin O’Halloran and Andrew Hare both added 6, Zach Marsceill 3 and Evan Hare and Colton Dillon 1 for the Lancers which were plagued by cold shooting throughout.

Setting the tone, Medina got baskets from all five starters in jumping out to a 19-8 first quarter advantage. Fry had a 3 and a layup and Izaiah Rhim a 3 to highlight that uprising which also included two layups each by Chinn and Sherman and one by Montague.

Keeping the momentum and the balanced scoring attack, the Mustangs got buckets from six players in a 19-7 second period surge which upped the advantage to 23, 38-15, at the half.  Cecchini hit three jumpers to lead that surge.  Montague added two baskets and Izaiah Rhim a three as Sherman, Chinn and Jarin Rhim each chipped in with a basket.

The Mustangs stretched the lead to 31, 53-22, at the three-quarter mark as threes by Fry and Chinn highlighted the 15-7 third period scoring edge.

Medina next hosts Central Christian Academy in another non league game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and then entertain rival Albion in a Niagara-Orleans League contest at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
