Attica girls top Albion in non league contest
A third quarter scoring edge keyed Attica to a 45-34 win over visiting Albion in a non league girls basketball game this evening.
Leading by a narrow 18-17 margin at the half, Attica outscored Albion 13-6 in the third period to open up a 31-23 advantage. Albion could get no closer than five in the final stanza.
Trailing 12-4 after the opening period, Albion did put together a 13-2 run to open the second quarter and rally into a 17-14 lead. Madison Hughson scored 7, Alison Gibson 4 and Paige Newton 2 during that Purple Eagles rally.
However, the last four points of the half and the lead for good at 18-17 belonged to Attica.
Madalyn Robinson scored 13 and Elise Dressel and Mackenzie McLeod 10 each to lead Attica.
Hughson finished with a game high 19 for Albion.
