Apex Clean Energy is responding to a press release from Save Ontario Shores, a citizen group opposed to Lighthouse Wind in Yates and Somerset.

Save Ontario Shores leaders were in New York City on Monday, addressing the Association of Towns in New York. Click here to see “Save Ontario Shores leaders tell town officials across NY to be wary of state control over local decisions.”

“Representatives of Lighthouse Wind attended the Association of Towns meeting in Manhattan on Monday and Tuesday. As evidenced by the press release sent by SOS, Western NY towns continue to be plagued with this misinformation and fearmongering we have become accustomed to from SOS,” said Cat Mosley, Apex’s public affairs manager.

“As Mr. Calabrese points out, town officials are confronted with challenges delivering basic town services,” Mosley said. “Wind energy projects brings many community benefits to the table including substantial yearly payments to area landowners, towns and school districts which can be used for enhanced town services and greater educational opportunity. To thwart civil discussion and progress toward considering the benefits of economic develop to local communities is the true disservice to municipalities, their leaders and citizens.”
