AnJo Bombers win College Showcase opener

AnJo Bombers 16U ran off with the lead late in the game in a 4-2 victory over WNY Prospects 18U in a College Showcase on Saturday in Orchard Park.

The Bombers were down 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Thomas Furmanski tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Furmanski led things off on the hill for AnJo Bombers 16U. He went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five. Karl Darling pitched two scoreless in relief.

Defensively the Bombers shined with Colin Fragale making some impressive stretches at first and Joe Watson sealed the game throwing out two from the dish in the seventh.

The Bombers racked up ten hits on the day. Cade Littman and Zeke Callicutt each collected multiple hits for AnJo Bombers 16U. Callicutt and Littman each collected two hits to lead AnJo Bombers 16U.

WNY Prospects was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Bock made the most plays with three.
