Bombers place second at Upstate Tourney

The AnJo Bombers U16  squad dropped a narrow 7-4 decision to the Southern Tier Power from Hornell today in the championship game of the Upstate Shootout Tournament at NCCC.

The Bombers advanced to the finals by defeating New Era 16U 8-5 in the semis.

Carson Tatro toed the rubber for the Bombers against New Era allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out three over seven innings.

The Bombers launched one home run on the day. Cade Littman went deep for a 350’ blast in the second inning. Thomas Furmanski tripled and drove in two. Addison Christ also drove in two.

Karl Darling went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead he Bombers in hits.

Defensively, the Bombers didn’t commit a single error in the field. AJ Seefeldt had the most chances in the field with six

In the finals, the Bombers fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-4 loss to Southern Tier Power  despite outhitting the Hornell area squad 8-7.

Southern Tier Power scored on an error in the first inning and then five times in the second.

The Bombers put up three runs in the sixth inning.  Darling had an RBI single in the inning to lead the run scoring.

Christ started the game for the Bombers.  Mike DiCureia and Furmanski entered the game as relief, throwing four innings and two innings respectively.
