Bombers bow in Rochester Classic opener

The AnJo Bombers 16U couldn’t rally in a 6-2 loss to Montgomery Marlins 16U of Maryland on Friday in the Rochester Baseball Classic opener at SUNY Brockport.

The Marlins scored on a single by Nick Drengwitz and a sacrifice fly by Matthew Keane in the first inning, and a error in the second inning.

AnJo Bombers 16U lost despite out-hitting Montgomery Marlins 16U eight to six.

Joe Watson was on the pitcher’s mound for the Bombers. He surrendered four runs, two earned, on three hits over four innings, striking out one.  Karl Darling and Reed Albee entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.

The Bombers outhit the Marlins 8-6.  Darling and Mike DiCureia each had multiple hits for the Bombers.  Watson and Colin Fragale each also reached multiple times. DiCureia and Darling each collected two hits with Darling reaching four times.  The Bombers left 9 on the bases and just couldn’t squeeze in their runs.
