Albion’s U16 baseball team rallied late to nip Batavia 1 by a narrow 9-8 margin this past week in Batavia League competition.

Trailing 8-6, Albion pulled even by scoring twice in the fifth inning on two walks and singles by Bryce Kelly and Deyonci Farley.

Albion then claimed the victory with a run in the sixth on a safey squeeze bunt by Zander Meakin after two walks and a single by James Denencourt had loaded the bases.

Earlier in the game Albion built up a 6-4 lead by scoring once in the first on a single by Patrick Ricker, twice in the second as Bailey Blanchard singled, once in the third on a wild pitch and twice in the fourth as Ryan Krenning doubled.

However, Batavia 1 put together a 4 run fifth inning uprising to grab what proved to be a short lived 8-6 lead.

Albion, which is now 2-1, also played to a 4-4 tie with Notre Dame in a contest which will be completed at a later date beginning in the 11th inning.
