Albion’s Shabazz scores win at sectionals
Contributed Photos – Albion’s Chris Shabazz placed in the top four in three events and Medina’s Devin Griffin took third in the Pentathlon at today’s Section VI Division II championships held at Falconer.
Albion High senior Chris Shabazz took first place honors in the High Jump (6-0) at the Section VI Division II track championships held today at Falconer.
Shabazz had a big day as he also placed second in the Triple Jump, fifth in the Long Jump and was a member of the Purple Eagles third place finishing 400 Relay team which also included Ozzie Matos, Jameek Riley and Tony Freeman.
Albion’s Sh’kwe Riley also placed fifth in the 800.
Medina’s Devin Griffin placed third in the Pentathlon and Roy-Hart’s Nadia White took fifth in the Triple Jump.
The Newfane girls had a big day as Ashlan Joseph won the 100 Hurdles and took second in the 400 Hurdles, Leah Siegmann placed second in the Steeplechase and Mel Myers took fourth in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump.
Akron’s Lauren Wagner placed fourth in the 1500 and fifth in the 3000.
