Albion youth gridders take 2 from Newfane

Albion took two out of three games from visiting Newfane Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition.

Albion won 15-0 in the JV Division and 43-6 in the Varsity Division. Newfane won the Mini Division contest 16-14.

In the Mini Division battle of the unbeatens, Newfane held on with a big PAT stop for the 1narrow win.

Noah Harrison 73 yards rushing and a 74 yard touchdown reception from Roman Manella and Jayovanni Ostrander 45 yards rushing including a 30 yard TD for Albion.

Harrison led the defense with 15 tackles as Mason Snook and Ostrander had 3 each.

The Albion JV Division squad came up with a huge game from the defense to beat previously unbeaten Newfane as Kwame Riley started the scoring with a 70 yard pick 6.  He also added 11 tackles on the day. Raekwan Riley had 7 tackles, Jairo Chavez and Makyell Walker 6 each.  Luke Bell had a sack.

Walker also had 122 yards rushing and a 47 yard TD and Chavez 17 yards rushing.

In the Varsity Division contest, Shakarion Drisdom ran for 107 yards and also passed for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns for Albion.  Aquil Gaffney and Sh’kwe Riley hauled in the touchdowns.  Riley added 65 yards and 2 TD’S on the ground as well.  Bryden McMurray had 2 PAT receptions and Seth Krenning 1.  Krenning also ran a PAT in.

On defense, Jacob Hughson had 11 tackles and McMurray 7.  Riley had a 35 yard interception return for a TD.  Jonathan Eibl had a sack,  McMurray an interception and Mark McCualey 2 interceptions.
