Albion youth gridders sweep Roy-Hart
Medina Broncos blank Newfane
Albion teams scored a sweep over host Roy-Hart Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Association action winning 39-26 in the Mini Division, 30-6 in the JV Division and 33-0 in the Varsity Division.
The Medina Broncos blanked host Newfane 21-0. Newfane took the other two games defeating the Colts 28-6 and the Stallions 33-21.
Albion Mini Eagles 39, Roy-Hart 26
Makyell Walker had 247 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns and also caught a 21 yard TD pass from Wesley Olles to lead Albion.
Xavier Byrd added 36 yards rushing with a touchdown and Destin Brown 59 yards.
On defense, Byrd had an interception and 3 tackles, Walker a fumble recovery and 5 tackles and Brown 8 tackles.
Albion JV Eagles 30, Roy-Hart 6
Mike Walker had 68 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, Amari Jones 39 yards and a touchdown and Shakerion Drisdom 29 yards for Albion. Amari Jones also hooked up with Javon Jones for a 14 yard TD pass play. Tyler Gibson also had a pair of two-point conversions.
Defensively, Gibson and Jorden Ostrander both had fumble recoveries. Jabari Johnson and Amari Jones both made 4 tackles and Bryden McMurray and Anthony Borrero 3.
Albion Varsity Eagles 33, Roy-Hart 0
Thomas Furmanski had a 1 yard touchdown run and also hooked up with Xavier Cornick for a 25 yard TD pass for Albion. Rylend Callicut also had a 14 yard TD run, Anthony Freeman 57 yards rushing and Deyonci Farley 50 yards.
Albion also got interception returns for touchdowns of 45 yards by James Denoncourt and 31 yards by Freeman.
Bryce Kelly had 9 tackles and Drisdom 7. Kelly and Drisdom both had fumble recoveries.
Medina Broncos 21, Newfane 0
Iverson Poole had a 21 yard touchdown run, Xander Payne an 18 yard scoring pass to Jarin Rhim and Aidan Paul a 1 yard TD run. Poole also ran for an extra point and Paul passed to Rhim for a two-point conversion.
On defense, Josh Wilson had 12 tackles and Lavon Guy and Zack Oliver 7 each.
Newfane 28, Colts 6
Kaiden Hangartner scored the Colts touchdown on a 60 yard run.
Defensively, Logan Gray made 6 tackles and Liam Castricone 5.
Newfane 33, Medina Stallions 21
Brian Fry completed 11 of 20 passes for 141 yards including touchdown passes of 60 yards to Tyler Chinn and 73 yards to Brayden Velia. Fry also had an 8 yard TD run.
Sydney Brown had 86 yards rushing and Chinn 77 yards receiving.
Defensively, Chinn had an interception and Colby Petrie a fumble recovery. Petrie and Mario Fidanza both had 7 tackles.
