Albion youth gridders sweep Attica

Albion scored a sweep over host Attica Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Association action winning the Mini Division game 35-0, the JV contest 37-0 and the Varsity game by forfeit as Attica does not have a team in that division.

Medina took two out of three games at Newfane. The Colts won 30-8 in the Mini Div., the Broncos took the JV contest 34-13 and the Stallions lost 40-6 in the Varsity game.

Mini Division

Albion 35, Attica 0

Amari Jones led Albion with 98 yards rushing, including a 48 yard touchdown. He added a 36 yard TD pass to Javon Jones who also had TD carries of 24 and 3 yards.

Jacob Hughson added 39 yards rushing, including a 24 yard TD, Shakarion Drisdom 17 yards rushing and Sh’kwe Riley 33 yards receiving.

On defense, Javon Jones had 10 tackles, Amari Jones and Bryden McMurray 9 each and Hughson and Riley 4 each. Javon Jones also had 2 sacks as Amari Jones, Aquil Gaffney and Xavier Byrd 1 each and Hughson a fumble recovery.

Medina Colts 30, Newfane 8

Aiden Pitts rushed for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns, Wyatt Zelazny 106 yards and 2 touchdowns and Aidan Paul 53 yards. Paul also threw for 2 two point conversions and Pitts 1. Josh Wilson caught two of the conversion passes and Levonn Guy one.

On defense, Oliver Wilson had 3 sacks, Josh Wilson 2 and Pitts, Maverick Hall and Chris Johnson 1 each. Johnson also made 6 tackles, Guy 5 and Oliver Wilson and Robert Arnold 3 each.

JV Division

Albion 37, Attica 0

Anthony Freeman had 194 yards rushing including touchdown carries of 27 and 77 yards, Jahmeek Riley 107 yards including TDs of 73 and 8 yards and Elijah Lloyd 44 rushing including 35 and 1 yard TD carries for set the pace for Albion. Chris Porter added 43 yards rushing and Gibson 33.

Defensively, Freeman made 5 tackles, Jonathan Judd and Luke Cornick 4 and Porter and Jabari Johnson 3. Freeman also had an interception and Kobe Pugsley a fumble recovery.

Medina Broncos 34, Newfane 13

Brian Fry had 150 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns to lead the way for the Medina Broncos which also got touchdowns from Iverson Poole and Corey Saj. Zach Blount also passed to Jarin Rhim for one two-point conversion and ran for another extra point, Zach Oliver also added 50 yards rushing in the second half.

On defense. Emanuel Taylor had a forced fumble and Rodney Davis 5 tackles and a sack.

Varsity Division

Newfane 40, Medina Stallions 6

Nick Kepner scored the Stallions touchdown on a kickoff return.
