Albion youth gridders capture playoff crown

Completing a perfect 11-0 season, Albion romped past Tri Town 40-6 Saturday in the Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) Varsity Division playoff championship game at Vets Park.

Jahmeek Riley spearheaded the Albion attack with 283 yards rushing including five touchdowns on runs of 30, 70, 19, 21 and 6 yards.

Chris Porter also had a 5 yard touchdown run and Amari Jones a two-point conversion pass to Javon Jones for Albion which led 26-0 at the half.

Albion set the tone for the afternoon by driving 81 yards, all on the ground, for a score on the first possession capped off by Riley’s 30 yard touchdown carry.

The ground attack was sparked by the strong line blocking of Bryce Froman, Ricky Lilly, Zaire Reid, Jorden Ostrander, Jabari Johnson and Braxton Zarpentine.

On defense for Albion, Amari and Johnson each had 8 tackles, Riley 6, Porter 5 and Ostrander 4.  Amari Jones also had a fumble recovery,  Johnson 2 sacks and Ostrander 1 sack.

In the JV Division final, Newfane trimmed Attica 12-6 in overtime.
