Albion youth football teams split in opener

Albion split with visiting Batavia Saturday to open the Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) season.
Albion won the Beginners Division game 28-0 and the Mini contest 44-7 .
Batavia took the JV game 23-0 and the varsity contest 23-0.
Beginners
Albion 28 Batavia 0
Elian Almonte had a big day for the little Eagles with 6 carries for 186 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 PAT’s. He also led the defense with 8 tackles.
Conor Murphy had 41 yards rushing, Greyson Roberts 25 yards, 1 TD and 2 PAT’s. Conor Murphy also had a rushing TD.
Mini
Albion 44 Batavia 7
Picking up where he left off last year, Jace Torres had 152 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns.
Kyle Schomske had a 70 yd TD run. Camden Holt picked up 65 yards and a TD. Liam Pearl 40 yards and Lincoln Voorhees 20 yards. Roman Allport and Voorhees added PAT’s.
On defense, Holt returned a fumble for a TD and had 5 tackles. Liam Saporito had 5 tackles, Dominic Sweet and Torres 4 each.
JV Batavia
23 Albion 0
Landyn Galligan and Jermiah Hildreth had 6 tackles a piece and Matthew Schomske and Colton Moreland 5 each. Brycen Potter also had 2 fumble recoveries.
Next week Albion will host Attica at 10, 12. 2 and 4.
