Unable to build on an early lead, Albion played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with visiting Wilson this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Albion jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first two and a half minutes as Connor McQuillan scored off an assist from Kendyll Hadick but the Purple Eagles couldn’t dent the Lakemen net again.

With the wind advantage, Wilson controlled play for much of the second half but managed only one goal on a penalty shot tally by Brayden Skobiak with 19 minutes remaining to pull the Lakemen even.

Both teams just missed scoring chances in the first 10 minute overtime period as Albion hit the cross bar with one shot and Wilson rattled a shot off the post with another.

Neither team could mount a serious scoring threat in the second overtime period leaving the contest knotted at 1-1.

Wilson is now 1-1 and Albion 1-3-1 in N-O action.

Albion goalie Devin Gaylord goes high to make a save as Wilson’s Tyler VanBuren tries for a header. Defender Donato Rosario moves in to help for the Purple Eagles.

In other N-O action, undefeated (4-0) front-running Newfane defeated CSAT 6-2 as Chad Gilson and Trevor Moreland each scored a pair of goals.

The loss drops CSAT to 0-5.

Akron improved to 3-2 with a 3-0 victory over Roy-Hart (1-2) as goals by Bryan Whitbeck and Josh Weigel in the first 11 minutes sparked the Tigers.

Ethan Martin later added an insurance goal for the Tigers in the second half.
