Forty years ago Albion’s 1983 football team put together a memorable perfect 9-0 season capped off by a Section VI championship game 35-6 victory over Silver Creek.

The players and coaches from that undefeated ’83 championship team will be honored during Albion’s Homecoming game at 7 p.m. Friday against Lake Shore.

The Homecoming game festivities will include tailgating at the concession stand area at 5:30 p.m., Senior Night ceremonies at 6:45 and the honoring of the ’83 team members at halftime.

The ’83 squad captured the Division VII title during an 8-0 regular season and then romped past Silver Creek in the Sectional title contest at then Rich Stadium (now Highmark Stadium) as quarterback Ken Burke threw for 4 touchdown passes including two to Dan Bartlett and one each to Jason Zicari and Ron Klatt. Burke also ran for a touchdown.

This year’s Albion squad is looking to improve upon a 1-4 B2 Division, 2-4 overall record against Lake Shore which is 3-2 in the Division and 3-3 overall.

Holley/Lyndonville will also be in action on Friday as the Hawks will visit Bolivar/Richburg at 7 p.m. for an 8 Man Division game.

B2 Division Standings: Maryvale 5-0, 6-0; Iroquois 5-1, 5-1; Lake Shore 3-2, 3-3; Dunkirk 2-3, 2-3; Albion 1-4, 2-4; Lew-Port 1-3, 1-5; Burgard 0-6

Section VI Notes
For the second time this season Eden has forfeited a C North Division game due to a lack of a sufficient number of players. The first time the Raiders forfeited was to Medina costing the Mustangs a home game. This time Eden has forfeited to Akron costing the Tigers their Homecoming game on Friday night.
