A defensive touchdown early in the fourth quarter earned Albion a 22-16 victory over previously unbeaten Pioneer in an interdivisional game this evening at Pioneer.

Snapping a 16-16 tie, Albion got the game winning touchdown when Sh’kwe Riley returned a fumble recovery 48 yards for a score.

The first half was a sea-saw battle as the teams traded touchdowns four times.

Albion jumped out to an 8-0 first quarter lead as quarterback Amari Jones hooked up with Javon Jones for a 25 yard touchdown pass and Jacob Hughson added the two-point conversion run.

Pioneer knotted the score at 8-8 but Albion again regained the lead at 16-8 on a 21 yard Amari Jones to Javon Jones touchdown pass and a two-point conversion carry by Hughson.

Once again Pioneer rallied to tie the contest at 16-16 with a touchdown and conversion just before half-time.

It remained deadlocked until the Purple Eagles defense came up with the game winning touchdown by Riley.

Albion is now 2-2 and Pioneer 3-1.
