Snapping a four game losing streak, Albion downed Barker/Roy-Hart 30-13 this afternoon in a B East Division football game at Barker.

Leading by a narrow 17-13 margin, Albion finally put a lock on the victory as Trey Hart returned two 40 yard pass interceptions for touchdowns in the final minute.

Barker/Roy-Hart jumped out to an early 7-0 lead as quarterback Andy Xapsos completed a 29 yard touchdown pass to Matt Maines capping a game opening drive as Noah Rocklein added the extra point kick.

However, Albion battled back to take a 17-7 lead at the half. Tommy Mattison, who picked up 93 yards rushing on the day, had touchdown runs of 4 and 8 yards and also a two-point conversion carry and Nathan Trembley kicked a 19 yard field goal to lead the Purple Eagles rally.

Barker/Roy-Hart cut the deficit to 17-13 in the third quarter as Ryan Ulrich ran 16 yards for a touchdown to cap a 98 yard drive. Xapsos had a pass completion of 23 yards to Ulrich to highlight the drive.

That drive was set up by a fumble recovery by Maines which stopped an Albion scoring drive at the Barker/Roy-Hart 2 yard line.

Barker/Roy-Hart got another scoring drive going in the fourth quarter driving to the Albion 5 as a 15 yard run by Ulrich and a 14 yard pass completion from Xapsos to Ed Wasnock keyed that march.

However, the drive was halted when Mattison intercepted a pass for Albion at the Purple Eagles 5 yard line.

Two more interceptions by Hart, with just 1:02 and 40 seconds remaining, then sealed the Purple Eagles win.

JJ Downs led the Albion defense with 10 tackles while Mattison and Kory Reynolds each had 10.

Albion is now 1-3 in the division and 2-4 overall while Barker/Roy-Hart is 0-4, 1-5.
