Albion tops Medina in N-O softball finale

Avenging an earlier season home field loss, Albion downed rival Medina 18-7 at Vets Park this afternoon to close out the Niagara-Orleans League softball season.
A huge 8 run seventh inning scoring burst capped off the win for Albion as Elizabeth Colmenero had a home run and Melia Prince a double.
Medina had tied the game at 5-5 by scoring 5 times in the bottom of the fourth inning as Alexa Demmer and Isabella Perez both had doubles.
However, Albion regained the lead for good by scoring 3 times in the fifth as Kaitlin Bennett and Aaliyah Jones both had hits.
The Purple Eagles also scored 3 quick runs in the first inning on singles by Bennett, winning pitcher Aubrielle Barry, Lux Froman, Colmenero and a double by Prince.
Bennett, Prince, and Colmenero each finished with 3 hits as Barry and Froman both had 2. Barry had a total of 5 RBIs and Colmenero and Froman 3 each.
Barry also registered 8 strikeouts in the circle.
Demmer and Jenna Cecchini both had a pair of hits for Medina and Karlee Cau a double.
Albion finishes the N-O season at 4-8 and Medina 1-11.
