Albion tops Lyndonville in Tri County opener; Wilson scores two Midget ‘A’ wins

Albion bested visiting Lyndonville 7-4 in the Tri County Babe Ruth League season opening baseball game on Thursday.

Thomas Furmanski picked up the win on the mound for Albion striking out 13 in six innings of work. Patrick Ricker struck out 3 in the seventh inning.

Albion took a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning as Furmanski homered and Kyle Woolston had an RBI single following a hit by Drew Caldwell.

The Albion lead jumped to 7-1 in the fifth frame as Austin Aman had a two-run single and Bailey Blanchard an RBI double.

Lyndonville scored three times in the final frame on a single by Anthony Moule, a double by Roman Heinsler and a two-run single by Maddox Stirk.

Wilson scores Midget A wins
Wilson opened Lockport Midget A League competition this past week by defeating Midtown 9-8 and Cheektowaga 7-5.

John Bender had 2 hits including a double with 4 RBIs for Wilson against Midtown as Bryce Seddon and Anthony Dispenza both had doubles.

Seddon, Dedan Faery and Steven Frerichs shared in earning the win on the mound.

A four run first inning then sparked Wilson past Cheektowaga.

Faery and Atlas both had a pair of hits as Seddon and Frerichs both drove in 2 runs.
