Albion tops Kendall in tourney opener

The action took place during Albion’s win over the Lady Eagles in the opening round of the Kendall Tournament this evening.

A goal late in each half earned Albion a 2-0 victory over host Kendall this evening in the opening round of the Lady Eagles soccer tournament.

Mariah Plain scored what proved to be the game winning goal for Albion with 14:09 remaining in the first half off an assist from Brylie Hapeman.

Kendall goalie Katherine Pearson then made 4 key saves in the second half to keep the Lady Eagles right in the game before Nicolina Creasey scored an insurance goal for Albion with just 11:16 to go.

Sydney Mulka earned the shutout in goal for the Purple Eagles.

Albion will next face York in the championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday while Kendall will take on Bishop Kearney in the consolation contest at 1 p.m.

York edged Kearney 4-3 in the other semifinal.
