Albion tops Lyndonville in Tri County contest

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Albion’s Shawn Allen dives back into first base as Lyndonville’s Anthony Moule awaits the throw.  The action took place during Albion’s win at Lyndonville this evening in a Tri County Babe Ruth League game.

Jumping out to a quick first inning lead, Albion went on to defeat host Lyndonville 8-2 this evening to remain undefeated at 6-0 in Tri County Babe Ruth League action.

Albion grabbed a 2-0 first inning lead on an RBI triple by Patrick Ricker and an error.

The advantage jumped to 5-0 in the third inning on singles by Ricker, Liam Ward, Drew Caldwell, a wild pitch and a sacrifice by winning pitcher Kyle Woolston.

Albion then used the long ball to score its final three runs on a solo home run by Thomas Furmanski and a two-run homer by Ward in the fourth inning.

Lyndonville scored once in the third on a bases loaded walk and once in the sixth on an RBI single by Jack Whipple which followed a triple by Casey Winiecki.

Ricker finished with a total of 3 hits as Ward and Xach Colacecchi both added 2.

Woolston allowed 3 hits and struck out 5 in 6 innings of work on the mound. Ward came on to hurl the final frame striking out 2. Woolston also helped himself defensively by turning a one hopper back to the mound into an early inning double play.

Albion next hosts Oakfield at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
