Albion to face familiar foe in B1 opener

No. 3 seed Albion will play host to a familiar foe when the Purple Eagles entertain No. 6 CSAT in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class B1 baseball playoffs at 5 p.m. Friday.

The Purple Eagles and Eagles were Niagara-Orleans League foes for several years before CSAT moved to the Niagara Frontier League this year.

The victor will face the winner of the No. 7 Dunkirk vs. No. 2 Alden contest in the semifinals on May 22.

In a B1 pre quarterfinal game on Thursday, No 9 Newfane will visit No. 8 East Aurora.

No. 9 Medina will visit No. 8 Southwestern in the Class B2 quarterfinals at 5 p.m. Thursday with the winner to face top seeded Olmsted on Friday.

No. 4 Roy-Hart will host a B2 quarterfinal at 5 p.m. Friday against the winner of Thursday’s No. 12 Lackawanna vs. No. 5 Eden contest.

Thursday’s other opening round B2 games will have No. 11 JFK at No. 6 Wilson and No. 10 Akron at No. 7 Gowanda.

Barker is the No. 1 seed in Class C2 and the Raiders will face the winner of the No. 5 Holland vs. No. 4 Frewsburg contest in the semifinals on May 22.
